BCHC, a federally qualified health center, plans to renovate existing space to expand services available in the communities it serves. The project expects to create 15-18 new jobs (medical, dental, behavioral health and administrative positions), increase patient visits and serve the occupational health needs of Mitchell County. The project will also help train the professional medical workforce in the area by establishing teaching clinics and, ultimately, a rural residency program, both in collaboration with Mountain Area Health Education Corporation. Golden LEAF funds will be used for renovations, equipment and furniture.
