Description:

This award provides funding to Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center, Inc. (RCCHC) to support development of an integrated dental clinic in Aulander, NC. Bertie County has only one private dental practice, which is located in Windsor, and one school-based dental program which is operated by ECU School of Dental Medicine. RCCHC is planning a 10,000 square foot facility with eight dental operatories and four medical exam rooms. It plans to open the facility by the end of 2024. At full capacity, Aulander Integrated Dental will employ 11 oral health staff, five medical staff, and one behavioral health professional, with 15 of those 17 positions located full-time in the clinic. The average annual wage for these positions will be $66,650 as compared to the $38,098 average private sector wage in Bertie County for 2023. Golden LEAF funds will support construction and site work for the clinic.
