The purpose of this grant is to assist Appalachian State University (ASU) with part of the design and planning for the new College of Health Sciences (CHS) facility that will allow ASU to use telehealth technology to service patients in rural western North Carolina. A collaborative team will develop the technological capacity to provide telehealth services and support on-site services delivery to rural communities in northwest NC. Annually more than 150 students from ASU’s health sciences disciplines and Wake Forest University’s PA program, which collaborates with ASU, will gain practical experience in delivery of healthcare services to rural populations of North Carolina through these sites. Golden LEAF funds will help pay for telehealth audiovisual/IT planning, software and initial training on the telehealth software.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
