This grant provides funding to support Caswell County Cooperative Extension’s (CCCE) launch of a technology and rental program designed to help existing and new small to medium agricultural producers adopt agriculture practices to improve their local food production enterprises. CCCE will purchase livestock handling equipment and no till equipment for use in cover cropping and crop production, as well as drone technology for field mapping, monitoring, and real-time, data-informed crop management decisions that can reduce production costs. Golden LEAF funds will be used for outreach and marketing costs, and for equipment to train 250 participants and rent to at least 50 area producers. Equipment rental fees will be used to maintain and repair the equipment.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
