The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Edgecombe Community College (ECC) for the construction of an Advanced Manufacturing Training Center to assist with the customized training needs of Project Diamond and other area companies that need access to short-term training programs to advance the skills of incumbent and new workers. Funds will be used to construct and equip a training facility at the Kingsboro Megasite to facilitate the location of up to 800 jobs to Edgecombe County. The Center will support the immediate and future workforce training needs of Project Diamond and other companies that are located in Edgecombe and the surrounding area in advanced manufacturing, supply chain management, logistics, and other related sectors. Success of the project will be determined through the following: up to 800 jobs located in Edgecombe County, 40% of Project Diamond’s workforce trained at the Center, the number of industry certifications earned by students, and 50% of students will successfully complete pre-employment training.
