Based on significant increased flows that occurred regularly following Hurricane Florence, the Town of Liberty believed that flooding from Hurricane Florence had damaged the town’s sewer system, causing increased inflow and infiltration. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to conduct an analysis of the areas of the sewer system that were most likely affected by Hurricane Florence, as well as for construction expenses to enable repair of infrastructure damaged by the hurricane. The town used existing staff and town-owned camera equipment to assist with the study.
