The purpose of this grant was to provide funding to Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools (ECPPS) for the “Go STEM” project to integrate STEM-related career pathways into area high schools. ECPPS expanded partnerships with local and regional businesses and industries to guide curriculum development and instruction, and to increase work-based learning opportunities for students. Local industries involved in the partnerships included alternative energy, aviation, health sciences, engineering, and agribusiness technology. Golden LEAF funds were used to develop STEM learning labs on three high school campuses, support professional development activities to assist teachers in using project-based instruction and collaborative learning strategies, and establish a STEM coordinator for the district.
