This Golden LEAF grant will provide job training to individuals on welfare or unskilled workers to prepare them for jobs in commercial construction (framing, plumbing, electrical, and finished carpentry). Students will receive on-the-job training through Lenoir Community College in restoring commercial property owned by the college foundation. The training program will prepare participants for 77 job openings that will be available over the next year at 10 contracting businesses.
