The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to provide an additional year of support to Surry Community College to grow the viticulture industry in North Carolina. Objectives for this year’s grant include: establishing best practices for grape and wine production in NC through demonstration and applied research; assisting wineries with evaluating commercial acceptability of wines and creating quality standards for the industry; creating an internship program for students; and, educating growers and consultants to support high quality grape and wine production.
