The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to provide continued support for the “Appalachian Grown” project, including partnering with local grocers, distributors, farmers and institutions to create new opportunities for farmers in high value markets and to drive demand for local food. It is anticipated that the efforts supported in part by Golden LEAF will lead to $6 million in value added income to local and family farms in 2008.
