Briefly describe your role at Golden LEAF.
I am Program Manager for the Food Distribution Program. I review and analyze applications and monitor awarded projects for compliance. I also provide expertise and feedback on program development and manage outreach and engagement for the grant program overall.
Describe yourself in three words.
Trustworthy. Collaborative. Problem-solving.
What’s your favorite part of your job and why?
My favorite part of the job is meeting and connecting with amazing people across the state of North Carolina. Especially those who are passionate about their work in addressing food insecurities in their communities.
What is your favorite pastime outside of work?
Being that my children are getting older and more independent, my favorite pastime outside of work is spending time with my family.
What is your biggest work-related accomplishment within the last year?
The most rewarding moment I’ve had thus far is seeing the first projects awarded funds at the Golden LEAF board meeting in August.
What motivates you to support long-term economic development in rural, tobacco-dependent, and economically distressed communities?
It is a privilege to be a part of the team here at Golden LEAF as a native North Carolinian and as someone who has been engaged with the North Carolina nonprofit sector for years. I’ve seen the devastating results of not investing in our communities and I’ve also seen how careful and strategic investment can have a transformative effect on the people living in those communities. For me, being able to be some small part of that work is the most rewarding thing I can do professionally.
