Briefly describe your role at Golden LEAF.
I’m responsible for managing day-to-day IT, cyber security and facility needs to ensure Golden LEAF’s systems support the staff’s work seamlessly, effectively, and efficiently.
Describe yourself in three words.
Efficient, thoughtful, responsible.
What’s your favorite part of your job and why?
I love that my job functions as a support role for the organization in a way that makes the work being done here by each team member more efficient and secure. Plus, I love the IT and cyber security aspect of my job that allows me to keep my existing skills sharp and challenges me to learn new skills as our organizational needs develop and change.
What is your favorite pastime outside of work?
I really enjoy spending time with my two dogs and going to farmers markets with my husband.
What is your biggest work-related accomplishment within the last year?
I would say changing our telecommunications system to VoIP. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular phone line.
What motivates you to support long-term economic development in rural, tobacco-dependent, and economically distressed communities?
I love that Golden LEAF focuses on inclusivity and sustainable development. As someone who supports and seeks to actively bolster the economy by supporting local businesses, I take great satisfaction in supporting an organization committed to supporting alternative economic activities that can diversify income sources and contribute to the overall well-being of these communities. Collaboration with local stakeholders is crucial to tailor solutions that bring about lasting improvements.
