On August 18, 2021, the Golden LEAF Foundation welcomed Arlena Ratliff as Golden LEAF Scholarship Program Manager.
“We are excited for Arlena to join the team to help carry out the mission of Golden LEAF,” said Scott T. Hamilton, Golden LEAF President, Chief Executive Officer. “Arlena’s skills and expertise will help support an increased focus on engaging with our two- and four-year scholars and alumni in addition to managing enhanced scholarship program elements.”
The new Scholarship Program Manager position will be responsible for leading outreach and engagement efforts with future, current, and former Golden LEAF Scholars and stakeholders. This position will also manage scholarship grant awards to administering entities as well awards for administration of leadership and internship program elements.
Before joining the Foundation, Ratliff served as Director, Incoming Corps Member Pipeline for Teach For America – Eastern North Carolina where she led the region’s efforts to onboard and hire its corps members. She also taught for six years in Halifax and Northampton counties as a Teach For America corps member.
Ratliff was born and raised in Rockingham, North Carolina, and now lives in Rocky Mount with her partner, Shane, and their bearded dragon (once a class pet), Howard. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Strategic Communication in 2013 from UNC Chapel Hill and received a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2018.
