What does it mean to you to serve as an intern at Golden LEAF?
Serving as an intern at Golden LEAF means the world to me. Golden LEAF has helped me better understand the world of nonprofit organizations and has helped me discover my love for it. Golden LEAF has given me experiences and knowledge I otherwise would not have gotten.
What have you learned that you didn’t think would be a part of Scholarship Program work?
Golden LEAF has taught me the importance of having a family-like environment at work. I have learned how important it is to connect with coworkers and to welcome everyone with open arms.
What are some of your favorite things you do as an intern at Golden LEAF?
I have enjoyed connecting with our Scholars and helping them stay connected with each other and potential employers by writing spotlights, sending texts and emails, planning events, and packaging scholarship items. I have also thoroughly enjoyed helping keep the scholarship collateral organized in order for staff to easily locate items.
Describe Golden LEAF in three words.
Generous. Welcoming. Noteworthy.
What type of work do you want to do when you graduate?
Golden LEAF has helped me confirm my love of helping others. After graduation, I plan to work a little in Florida at Disney for an internship in marketing and then move back to the Wilson area to continue to help others through marketing.
Would you like to share any words of advice for prospective interns?
Come in with a smile and give it your all. Enjoy this experience and all it has to offer.
