What are some of your major accomplishments during college? I was able to travel with the Sport Management program at Wingate University. It was great to see things outside of Rutherford county because it gave me strategies I could use to help improve my community.

What would you tell someone interested in applying for the Golden LEAF Scholarship about being a recipient? Take advantage of the opportunity. Golden LEAF helped me in more ways than I ever expected. The lessons we were taught by our mentors are things that I use on the job today!

What helped you decide to live/ work in a rural area? I decided to live in a rural county because of the need for leadership. I felt that I could really benefit my community by getting involved with our youth. They are the future so any way I can help with them will benefit Rutherford County.

What kind of leadership roles are you serving in currently? Once sports begin, I will be helping with a local football program for the youth in our community. Football is something that is very important to the kids in our county and is a great way to guide kids down a successful path.

What would you like to share about your personal or professional philosophies? As cliché as it sounds, never be afraid to stand up for what you believe in. You never know what you may say or do that will really make a difference for you and your community.

What did you learn during your experience with the Golden LEAF Scholars Leadership Program? Learning how to handle the different personality types while on the job was one of the most impactful things that I learned throughout my time with Golden LEAF. You are not always going to click with every person you meet. You must be able to work with different types of personalities no matter what job you get. It honestly makes working so much easier when you can compromise with each other.

What internship experiences did you have through the Golden LEAF Scholars Leadership Program? I worked at a local gym for my internship. The things I learned and the people I have met during my internship have helped me get to where I am at today.

Did your experiences with the Golden LEAF Scholars Leadership Program help shape your decision to live and work in a rural area? Yes, being able to work at a locally owned gym helped me to realize there are things that I can do to really help my community. My goal is to create some sort of organization that will benefit the youth in Rutherford County.
