Description:

This workforce training project is designed to prepare or upgrade individuals to service, maintain, repair or install equipment for a wide range of industries. OIC will recruit, support, and provide training in the prerequisite skills for seasonal farmworkers, laborers, warehouse and/or factory workers. Wilson Technical Community College has the curriculum and teachers for the program and OIC has apprenticeship programs in place with area industries. Participants entering the project would have typically been working for $6.75 per hour. Upon completion of the program, those same individuals should be making $17.50 per hour. This is a two-year project.
