Description:

This Golden LEAF grant will support the Veterans Leadership Council of North Carolina-CARES which is creating the Veterans Life Center in Butner, NC. The Center will provide emergency and transitional housing for homeless and at-risk veterans along with counseling, employment assistance, vocational education, life skills training, and treatment for combat-related issues. The project will also repair an existing State-owned building and bring economic development to Granville County. Golden LEAF support will be used for construction, and will complement a $4.2 million award from CDBG for the project.
