The purpose of this grant is to assist McDowell County, in collaboration with McDowell Technical Community College and the McDowell County Public School System in the renovation and upfit of new space for McDowell Technical Community College at the former ‘Universal’ building on College Drive adjacent to the McDowell Technical Community College campus. The renovated space will be utilized by the community college to relocate and expand some of its occupational training programs and create a modern industrial training center to service existing industry needs. The project will facilitate collaboration between the vocational offerings of McDowell High School and the Community College and also free up much-needed space on the existing campus for the Early College program. Golden LEAF funds will be used for architectural, engineering, design and construction costs.
