The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy opened its Asheville Satellite Campus in an effort to address pharmacist shortages in western North Carolina. The campus ease this shortage and prepares graduates for new job opportunities in pharmacy practices by focusing its efforts on recruiting and training students from western North Carolina. The first class had 17 students, all with connections to the region. The School uses faculty from UNC-CH to provide training via distance education. This grant will provide video conferencing technology necessary to support the growing number of students at the Asheville campus.
