The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Tyrrell County to support a $4.4 million “shovel ready” project to expand sanitary sewer service in the Scuppernong Township area to serve residents and businesses. The expansion will also serve the 4-H Center, which is expected to connect to the system. The sanitary sewer improvements will provide an immediate elimination of a documented public health need represented by failed and/or failing septic systems as residents hook-on to the system.
