Trenton Sanitary Sewer Improvements

Organization:
Town of Trenton
Amount:
$200,000.00
Program Area:
Community Assistance Initiative
County of Applicant:
Jones
Year:
2011
Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the Town of Trenton for the construction of a new land application sewer treatment facility. The project will allow the Town to eliminate a current moratorium on sewer customer additions. The Town’s current treatment plant is at capacity and will continue to have difficulties meeting Division of Water Quality standards due to discharge into the Neuse River Basin. The proposed new land application wastewater system will provide a direct benefit to all customers served by the Town (including residences, businesses, Jones Senior High School, the Jones County Civic Center and the Jones County Campus of Lenoir Community College). The facility design has been completed and permits are in place to allow construction to move forward. Golden LEAF funds would be utilized for construction and will leverage $1,369,000 from the Clean Water Management Trust Fund, $500,000 from the N.C. Rural Center and $150,000 from the Town of Trenton.
