The purpose of this grant is to allow RAFI to hire a full-time farm advocate to provide financial counseling to 30-40 contract poultry farmers that have been affected by the closure of the Townsends poultry processing facilities in Siler City and Mocksville. RAFI will offer in depth financial assistance to farmers and their families and help them work with creditors to restructure financial obligations or otherwise resolve financial challenges resulting from the loss of production contracts.
