Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Union Square Campus, a charitable nonprofit organization, to purchase simulation equipment for a state-of-the-art health sciences education building where nurses can perfect clinical skills on life-like simulated patients. The University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG), North Carolina A&T State University, and Cone Health have entered into ten-year leases for space in this building, and Guilford Technical Community College has committed funding for maintenance and replacement of the simulation equipment over time. Seven nurses from the first graduating class of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Adult/Gerontological Primary Care Concentration (DNP) at UNCG School of Nursing will be placed in open positions at four clinics in Reidsville and Madison, both sites located in Rockingham County. These clinics, and other rural sites, will serve as clinical training facilities for students. In addition to DNP students, more than 300 nursing students at all degree levels, in-service nurses and other health care practitioners from Cone Health will be trained at the facility annually.
