This award provides funding to Transylvania County for the Phase 2 expansion of the Sylvan Valley Industrial Center. In 2016, with Golden LEAF support, the county developed a 60,000-square-foot industrial building. Outdoor gear manufacturer SylvanSport served as the anchor tenant for that building. The project resulted in the creation of 17 new full- and part-time positions. The property is now fully leased and additional job growth has been realized for the site’s two tenants, SylvanSport and Oskar Blues Brewery. This project addresses the continued need for industrial space in the county, providing an additional 40,000 square feet of light manufacturing space that is expected to facilitate creation of 20 new jobs. Golden LEAF funds will be used for construction related costs. In addition to Golden LEAF’s contribution, the county will use its funds and a portion of lease payments for this expansion.
