The purpose of this grant is to assist Alexander County with a sewer line extension project that will aid in the retention of jobs at a local industry and allow for future expansion. Shurtape Technologies, which employees 160 individuals, operates an on-site waste treatment plant. Failure of this waste treatment system, or failure in the re-permitting process, would result in a loss of employment at the facility in Alexander County. Golden LEAF funds will be used for construction costs related to expanding public infrastructure.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
