The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Sturgeon City of Jacksonville, Inc. for final design documents necessary to convert a former City of Jacksonville wastewater plant into an educational and aquaculture technology development center. The project has secured approximately $4.3 million for construction, primarily from local sources. The expansion will allow Sturgeon City to expand its STEM educational programs for students and related professional development for teachers. The project will also provide training and educational assistance for the aquaculture industry including identifying alternative and developing markets, value added products, and designing turnkey operational designs.
