Essential Skills in Advanced Manufacturing Initiative
County of Applicant:

This Golden LEAF grant will assist Pitt CC, along with its partner Wayne CC with program enhancements in the mechanical engineering (ME) and computer integrated machining (CIM) programs to meet identified employment opportunities in eastern NC for highly skilled workers in advanced manufacturing. In addition to the ME and CIM programs, the colleges will offer certification classes in Autocad and Solidworks. Fifteen area companies have provided support letters expressing interest in interviewing graduates and plan to add between 460 and 500 jobs over 3 years. Funds will be used to purchase equipment for each college, renovate space and make electrical improvements, obtain Mastercam Certification for instructors and the training lab at Wayne CC, support internships and assist students with certification fees.
