Description:

The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to provide funding to Mayland Community College to support the renovation, electrical up-fit, and mechanical work required to expand the welding program and enrollment at its Avery County campus. The program will support high school, continuing education, and curriculum courses. This expansion will increase the enrollment cap in high school welding programs from 15 to 20 students per class beginning in the spring semester of 2014. Renovation will also allow the addition of new welding training capabilities such as bending, cutting, and some blacksmithing to the community college and high school curricula.
