This grant provides funding to the North Carolina Global Transpark (NCGTP) for construction of a hangar for Project Fly. Project Fly owns and operates private jets. It has a presence at NCGTP and currently employs 730 people there. Project Fly is expanding its operations, adding a new maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) facility. The project will create 224 new jobs paying average annual wages of $77,817, compared to the Lenoir County average of $39,839. To house the MRO project, NCGTP will construct a new hangar, the total cost of which is $16.8 million. Golden LEAF funds will be used for costs associated with the hangar construction. NCGTP will lease the hangar to Project Fly. The company is also creating a new headquarters and a new terminal with a hospitality component at the Global Transpark. The total project will create 418 jobs over four years.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
