The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Pender County to support construction of wastewater infrastructure at the County-owned Pender Commerce Park. The infrastructure will serve the park, including its first tenant, a seafood processing facility to be operated by the Acme Smoked Fish Corporation (the ‘Company’). The Company proposes to create 120 new jobs by December 31, 2017 with an average wage of $33,308, plus benefits, compared to the county average of $28,792. Golden LEAF funds will be used for wastewater treatment processing capacity. The waste water treatment processing facility will have a capacity of 500,000 gallons per day, which is in excess of the amount needed by the Company, allowing use by others.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
