The purpose of this grant is to provide continued support for The Golden LEAF Scholars Program at North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities. Funding for scholarships to the member schools will cover tuition and fees for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters. Eligible students must reside in a rural county in North Carolina that is designated by Golden LEAF as tobacco-dependent, and must demonstrate financial need. Priority will be given to students from families adversely affected by the decline of the tobacco industry.
