Description:

The purpose of this project is to help with the transportation of bales of corn, soy and other stover or fodder from Eastern North Carolina to Western North Carolina and other parts of the state to keep North Carolina livestock operations viable. North Carolina is currently experiencing a critical hay shortage caused by dry weather. It is estimated that approximately 800,000 bales of hay are needed around the state and as many as a third of livestock farmers are at risk of going out of business. The project will benefit farmers in Eastern North Carolina by providing an alternative market for their crops that have suffered because of the drought, and will benefit livestock producers by providing much needed hay.
