The purpose of this project is to support e-NC’s effort to secure $4.7 million in federal broadband recovery funds to extend and expand an earlier State Broadband Data and Development (SBDD) grant to map and plan broadband infrastructure in underserved and unserved counties in North Carolina. Golden LEAF funds will support e-NC’s broadband technical assistance personnel. Three on-site field agents will be assigned to serve the eastern, central and western regions of North Carolina respectively by providing hands-on technical assistance to economically distressed communities, and facilitating local public engagement, planning and training efforts. Funding will also support efforts to inventory local-level broadband resources and compile comprehensive data related to broadband information and resources. Golden LEAF funds will be used over four years.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
