Year:

Description:

The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to provide funding to Stokes County to extend water and sewer service to the proposed new Stokes County campus of Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC) in the Meadows community. The new campus will include one 20,000 sq. ft. education building that is projected to serve 1,200 students annually. The building can also function as a community center. The new sewer will serve properties with failing septic systems, including a restaurant that currently operates with a pump and haul permit, and a DOT maintenance facility whose septic system is severely limited during rain events. The system will also facilitate economic development in the area by allowing new retail businesses and medical facilities to locate in the area. Forsyth Tech will create 10 new full-time and 27 new part-time jobs as a result of the project.
