Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide assistance to the Carolinas Gateway Partnership to conduct engineering and environmental work on properties in the Kingsboro Industrial Park in Edgecombe County to allow the sites to meet ‘Select Sites’ certification requirements for the CSX site certification program. This location is the only property in North Carolina eligible for designation as a ‘Select Site’ by CSX. Once the site achieves the designation, it will receive marketing support from CSX and a national site selection firm retained by the rail company. This additional private sector marketing effort is expected to help the County in its efforts to attract a large employer to the site.
