Program Area:
Major Site Development Initiative
County of Applicant:
Guilford

Description:

This grant provides funding to the City of Greensboro to assist with extending sewer to the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite, an approximately 1,550-acre site comprised of property owned or controlled by Randolph County, the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite Foundation (GRMF), and the North Carolina Railroad (NCRR). The partners have invested over $27 million thus far in land acquisition and other related site development expenses. The site is located south of Greensboro in Randolph County, adjacent to Highway 421. The City believes that the site could attract a high yield project that could create 1,750 new jobs and $500 million in new capital investment. The site has been considered by three automotive projects among others. KPMG Global Advisors recently designated the site a certified site. The infrastructure to be completed with Golden LEAF funds consists of a pump station and 42,800 linear feet of 16″ sewer force main.
