Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the North Carolina Community College System for continued support of the Golden LEAF Scholars – Two-Year Colleges program. It is expected that at least 1,200 scholarship will be awards through this grant. Eligible students must reside in a rural county that is economically distressed or tobacco dependent and must demonstrate financial need. The grant supports scholarships up to $750 per semester for curriculum students and up to $250 per semester for occupational continuing education students. The scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation and childcare for 2016-17 fall, spring and summer semesters. At least 25% of program funds must be awarded to eligible continuing education students.
