This funding supports the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) with the Golden LEAF Scholars Leadership Program. CCL plans to recruit 120 freshman scholars from the pool of 215 new Golden LEAF scholars and retain 237 scholars from the current program year. The leadership training program begins with a two-day leadership development conference in January, includes a paid summer internship in a rural county, and a final two-day conference in September. Freshmen and sophomores also receive individualized coaching for eight months of the year and juniors participate in online peer coaching. Student stipends are the largest single expense and account for nearly half of the grant amount.
