The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) to support a project that would help expand existing capacity to create a fully operational satellite campus in Alexander County in a building on a 28-acre parcel that has been purchased by the County for the purpose of growing the presence of the college and its programs in the county. Golden LEAF funds will be used for building up-fit and renovation, hardware infrastructure and installation of broadband connectivity, and welding lab up-fit and equipment. This project represents a partnership between the college and Alexander County Schools with the intent of using the property and facility to allow flexibility in meeting workforce demands and to develop and offer training programs that provide ‘multiple entry and exit’ points for students to acquire job skills.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
