The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Graham County Cooperative Extension for a teaching kitchen and meeting/education space in their center. The addition of a kitchen and meeting space is needed to meet the demand for trainings and classes offered through Cooperative Extension. Along with general workforce preparedness trainings, the new space will allow Cooperative Extension to expand their program offerings in value-added agriculture production, local food sales, agri-tourism and agriculture economics. A 2010 survey revealed that over 80% of households in Graham County grow gardens, preserve food or produce one or more agricultural products.
