Description:

The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to help fund a new facility on the campus of Mountain Heritage High School. Students from Mountain Heritage, Mitchell High School and Mayland Community College will be trained in construction trade skills (carpentry, masonry, electrical installation and plumbing) and will use those skills to help construct two modular homes per year with Mitchell-Yancey Habitat for Humanity which will oversee the project and materials management. Students will be equipped with marketable skills in this Tier I county while helping provide housing for those who otherwise may not be able to afford it.
