Description:

This grant provides funding to the Stokes County School System to assist with implementation of a 1:1 digital learning initiative beginning at North Stokes High School. For the past two years, the system has used its district technology facilitator to support professional development in using technology for instructional practice and has participated with a district leadership team in the UNCG 21st Century Leadership program funded by Golden LEAF. Race to the Top funds have been used to upgrade infrastructure to include wireless access in all schools, and to provide core classroom technology. Stokes County Schools plans to contract with the Friday Institute to refine its professional development strategy. Golden LEAF funds will be used for devices, professional development, and learning management software.
