Tropical Storm Julia and Hurricane Matthew flooded Bertie County’s Cooperative Extension Service building and its public library. Funding available from FEMA will not be sufficient to replace these facilities. This Golden LEAF grant will support planning, design, and engineering for a new building located outside of the floodplain that will house the library and cooperative extension offices. A site has been identified and will be acquired by the county.
