Flooding as a result of Tropical Storm Julia and Hurricane Matthew destroyed the Bertie County library and Cooperative Extension buildings. FEMA Public Assistance is not sufficient to replace these buildings. A community building owned by the Town of Windsor, but frequently used by the county, also flooded. Golden LEAF Hurricane Matthew Disaster Recovery grant funds will be used to support the construction of the replacement building that will house the library, Cooperative Extension, and a community space, saving funds by consolidating the three functions in one building. The new building will be located outside of the flood plain.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
