Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the Regeneration Development Group, Inc. to support a program that will recruit and train 40 program participants for careers within the allied health field to address the challenge and opportunity of the unfilled positions for qualified workers in Halifax and neighboring counties. RDG anticipates that 30 participants will upgrade their skills by obtaining a Career Readiness Certificate, and 15 of those participants will be employed in the healthcare field through partnerships with Our Community Hospital of Scotland Neck, Guardian Care and Vidant Edgecombe Hospital and other health care facilities. The target participant pool comes from dislocated workers who reside within the Scotland Neck, Halifax County and Edgecombe County area. Workforce development training will focus on pharmacy technician, dental assistant, phlebotomist, medication aide, and medical administration. Golden LEAF funds will be used for participant costs such as tuition, fees, uniforms, books, transportation and childcare and for personnel costs.
