Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the Alamance County Cattlemen’s Association to finish enclosure of its livestock arena, which is centrally located to Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Guilford, Orange, Pearson and Randolph Counties. There are approximately 65,000 head of cattle in these counties. The arena will primarily be used to hold truckload sales, breeding stock sales, and educational events. By selling cattle in truck load lots producers can increase prices of up to $90 a head above sale barn prices. Golden LEAF funds will be used for costs of enclosing the sales arena, for HVAC, and for other improvements to the facility.
