The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Cleveland Community College (CCC) to assist with the construction of a 30,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing center. The facility has been approved for construction by CCC’s Board of Trustees, the Cleveland County Commissioners, and the State Board of Community Colleges. The estimated cost is $8 million of which $4.9 million will be funded through proceeds from the Connect NC Bond. CCC is also seeking EDA funding. The center will house automation engineering, robotics, computer-integrated machining, drafting, and other programs. CCC believes the center will provide the space, new technologies, and student-to-equipment ratios needed to train a highly skilled pool of workers that can meet and exceed demands by area industry.
