Description:

Deep Run Roots (formerly The Chef’s Almanac) is a new national PBS television program hosted by Vivian Howard, the chef at The Farmer and the Chef restaurant in Kinston, NC that will feature North Carolina cuisine. The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to create a website associated with the show that will act as a distribution hub for agribusiness and tourism opportunities. It will direct consumers to farmers’ markets, roadside stands, and restaurants to purchase locally grown ingredients, show what’s in season, highlight events and festivals, and provide other similar information. Out-of-state viewers will see links to purchase products and how to visit the area. Golden LEAF funds will be used for costs associated with the web site, including staff, design, content creation, travel, and marketing.
