Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Yancey County Schools for a 1:1 laptop initiative at Mountain Heritage High School (MHHS) in Burnsville. The project will provide for the purchase of laptops for every student and teacher at MHHS. Desired results of the project include an increase in the graduation cohort rate, an increase in educational attainment above high school (certifications/degrees), and the emergence of a digitally-literate 21st Century workforce with competitive skills. Golden LEAF funds will be utilized for the cost of student and teacher laptops, classroom technology, professional development expenses and a certified instructional technology facilitator. Golden LEAF funds will be leveraged by district funds of approximately $184,000 from Race to the Top, E-Rate and Yancey County Schools funding streams.
