Project Funding Limits

Maximum Project Funding
The maximum award for any project is $250,000. No project budget or application may exceed $250,000.

Separate Projects in Separate Funding Opportunities
If an organization is submitting an application for the food bank partner agency funding opportunity and the school-based weekend food distribution opportunity, it will submit a separate application for each opportunity. An organization does not need to comply with the process for separate applications described below if submitting one application in the school-based weekend food distribution opportunity and one application in the food bank partners agency funding opportunity.

Separate Projects in a Single Funding Opportunity
Organizations may implement separate projects in a single funding opportunity, i.e., the school-based weekend food distribution opportunity or the food bank partner agency funding opportunity. If the total cost of the separate projects exceeds $250,000, the organization must comply with the process described below and submit a separate application for each project. Each project budget and application is subject to the $250,000 funding limit.

Projects are considered separate if each proposed project has distinct outcomes and satisfies the following:

For pick up distribution locations
Each proposed project will support food distribution from, and will be located at, a separate physical location.

For mobile and remote distribution

  • Improvements to the site from which multiple mobile distribution routes originate or from which multiple remote distribution locations are served are considered a single project even though they serve multiple routes or locations.
  • Projects to support separate mobile distribution routes or separate remote distribution locations (as opposed to the site from which the routes originate or remote locations are served) are considered separate projects.
  • A mobile project that originates from a pick up distribution location and a project to support that pick up distribution location can be considered separate projects.

An organization does NOT need to submit more than one application if the total request is less than $250,000, even though the application may include projects that could be considered separate projects. Each project will need to be described clearly in the application.
